Hypnosis is a valuable tool used to help eliminate destructive, undesirable behavior and to encourage the development of constructive behavior. The hypnotherapist uses the method of progressive relaxation to gently guide you to relax your body and quiet your mind. In this relaxed state, your subconscious mind, which is always alert, can easily be encouraged to make positive behavioral changes.

How does hypnosis work?
In a relaxed state, the hypnotherapist is distracting your conscious mind, allowing your subconscious mind to be more open to constructive suggestions. These suggestions are agreed upon before the session begins.

On a daily basis you are continuously programming your subconscious mind with suggestions. All too often these suggestions unknowingly, encourage potentially destructive habits, such as smoking and overeating. For example, by saying or thinking, "I cannot stop smoking,” or “I cannot stop eating too much,” you are unknowingly installing into your subconscious mind these unhealthy beliefs that hinder you from changing your habits.

Employing the skills of a trained, qualified hypnotherapist allows a neutral, objective party to gently encourage your subconscious to be introduced to beliefs that will change or alter outmoded behavior for the better. After a short period of time, these newly installed beliefs in your subconscious mind support more desirable behavior.

What can I expect during a session?
Before the session begins, the therapist will discuss with you the behavioral changes you would like to make. With your permission, the therapist offers these suggestions to your subconscious mind.

Lying down, the therapist will guides you to quiet your mind and relax your body. Using the agreed upon suggestions before the session begins, the hypnotherapist will make statements to suggest that your subconscious mind replace your undesirable behavior with positive, constructive behavior. You may be asked to visualize this new behavior and also to imagine that you are now free from the habits you wish to change.

What are the benefits of hypnosis?
You will experience a feeling of empowerment or a sense of being in control of your life. Any desirable behavior can be modified through hypnosis.
